Harry Potter mania at the cinemas

HARRY Potter mania officially hits Bahrain today, with cinemas showing a total of 34 screenings of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix a day.

The latest blockbuster, based on the fifth book in J K Rowling's series, hits the screens just three days before the launch of the seventh and final Harry Potter book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday.

The film will be shown a total of 20 times a day at Seef Cineplex's two screens alone, along with screenings at Saar Cineplex and Al Jazeera Cinema.

It opened last Wednesday in the US and has already raked in over $140 million (BD52.92m) to date, almost covering its production cost of $150m.
