MIT researchers have shown that it’s possible to wirelessly power a 60-watt lightbulb from two meters away. Above, a coil (background) creates a magnetic field that is able to pass through an obstruction. The foreground coil resonates at the frequency of the magnetic field, picking up its energy to power the bulb.
